MIAMI LYRIC OPERA HISTORY:

Raffaele Cardone

President and Artistic Director

It is a great honor for me to introduce Miami Lyric Opera, a Company created to satisfy operatic needs of Opera lovers, the public at large in the Miami area and to provide an accessible alternative for the enjoyment of the marvelous magic of the Opera.

The Company made its official presentation to the public on October 31st. 2004 with a successful Gala Opera Concert at Manuel Artime Theater. Since then, year after year MLO has successful presented several full stage opera productions including La Traviata, Cavalleria, Pagliacci, Don Pasquale, L’Elisir d’amore (Elixir of love), La Boheme, Rigoletto, Lucia di Lammermoor, Madama Butterfly, I Puritani, Cavalleria and Suor Angelica, Marina, Carmen, Opera Highlights and Gala Concerts. A long list of fine singers, conductors and artists from South Florida and the rest of the world have contributed to the success achieved in the now five consecutive seasons since the company’s creation.

We are now looking forward to a challenging 2010 season under a rather difficult economy in the nation but with the same enthusiasm as in the past years. The season will include reproduction and new titles for the company such as Amico Fritz from Pietro Mascagni. In addition refreshed productions of Don Pasquale, La Boheme, Opera Highlights and closing with a new production of La Traviata as requested by many of public. Selected artists and promising young talents will participate in the season as well as a professional group of directors and orchestra conductors.

Miami Lyric Opera is committed in creating opportunities for new talents and prepare them for major operatic venues while providing opportunities to opera singers, choristers, musicians, stage directors, conductors and other, to work with enthusiasm, dedication and creativity.

Miami Lyric Opera Inc. is a Non-Profit Organization registered in the State of Florida and its Directors are a group of enthusiastic Opera lovers with a large trajectory in opera, music, business and other field of activities who donate their time and talent to this project.

Thank very much for your sympathy and support.

Sincerely
